Bishop of Oberá
Bishop Damián Santiago Bitar, Bishop of Oberá, was born on February 12, 1963, in Arroyo Cabral, in the province of Córdoba and the Diocese of Villa María. He completed his courses in philosophy and theology at the metropolitan seminary of Córdoba. He was ordained a priest for Villa María on December 13, 1987, at Villa María, and was incardinated in that diocese. He served first as parochial vicar, head of the diocesan vocations office and parish priest in various parishes, and later as secretary-chancellor and then vicar general to three successive bishops. For a short period he was also diocesan bursar and episcopal delegate for women's consecrated life, and during the last vacancy of the diocese he served as diocesan administrator. On October 4, 2008, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Turris Tamalleni and Auxiliary Bishop of San Justo. He received episcopal ordination on December 8, 2008, with José Ángel Rovai as principal consecrator and Roberto Rodríguez and Carlos José Ñáñez as co-consecrators. On October 26, 2010, he was appointed Bishop of Oberá, and he was installed on December 4, 2010.
