Bishop of Granada
Jorge Solórzano Pérez was born in San Andrés de la Palanca, in the Archdiocese of Managua, on March 23, 1961. He pursued his ecclesiastical studies in philosophy at the National Seminary of Managua and in theology at the Conciliar Seminary of Mexico. He obtained a specialization in Liturgy from the Pontifical Atheneum of Saint Anselm in Rome. Ordained a priest on March 29, 1985, he served as: parish priest of Nuestra Señora de la Merced in Mateare; parish priest of María Inmaculada in Managua; parish priest of San Juan María Vianey, San Pablo Apóstol, and El Espíritu Santo in Managua; professor at the Major Seminary of Managua and the National Seminary of Managua; Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Care; and President of the Commission for the Ongoing Formation of the Clergy. On June 17, 2000, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Teuzi and Auxiliary Bishop of Managua. He received episcopal ordination on July 13 of that same year. He was appointed Bishop of Matagalpa on October 15, 2005.
