Bishop of Włocławek
Krzysztof Jakub Wętkowski was born on August 12, 1963, in Gniezno. After completing his secondary education, he was admitted to the Primate's Seminary in Gniezno in 1982 and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Gniezno on June 4, 1988. Following his ordination, he served as a parochial vicar at the Parish of St. Martin and St. Nicholas in Bydgoszcz (1988–1989). From 1989 to 1994, he pursued his studies at the Catholic University of Lublin, where he obtained a doctorate in Canon Law in 1995 with a thesis titled "The Legislative Activity of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński as Archbishop of Gniezno (1948–1981)." Since 1995, he has been a lecturer in Canon Law at the Primate's Seminary in Gniezno, and since 2008, an associate professor of Canon Law at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He has also held the following positions: Cathedral Master of Ceremonies (1995–2008), Judge of the Metropolitan Tribunal (2000–2011), and Chancellor of the Curia (1995–2012). He has published several books and articles of both a scholarly and popular nature. Furthermore, he is a regular contributor to the Catholic weekly *Przewodnik Katolicki*. He currently serves as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, and is a member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors.
