Bishop of Siedlce
Kazimierz Gurda was born on August 20, 1953, in Książnice Wielke, in the Diocese of Kielce. After completing his secondary education, he entered the Major Seminary of Kielce in 1972. He was ordained a priest on June 11, 1978, and incardinated into the Diocese of Kielce. From 1978 to 1979, he served as a parochial vicar in Pińczów, and from 1979 to 1981, he held the same position in Bieliny. He pursued further studies in Rome from 1981 to 1989 at the Pontifical Institute "Augustinianum," where he obtained a Doctorate in Theology with a specialization in Patrology. Upon returning to the diocese, he served as a lecturer in Patrology (from 1989 to the present) and Latin (from 1989 to 1994) at the diocesan seminary, as well as its spiritual director. He has served as Defender of the Bond at the diocesan tribunal since 1994 and was also the parish priest of Saint Joseph Parish in Zagnańsk (1996–1998). Since 1998, he has been the Rector of the Major Seminary of Kielce and a member of the Presbyteral Council.
