Bishop of Dundo
Estanislau Marques Chindekasse, S.V.D., was born on August 18, 1958, in Huambo. After completing his primary and secondary education, he was admitted to the Christ the King Philosophy Seminary in Huambo. He undertook his novitiate with the Society of the Divine Word in Lisbon while simultaneously pursuing theology courses at the Catholic University of Portugal, where he obtained a Licentiate in Theology. He made his perpetual profession in 1986 and was ordained a priest on November 22, 1987. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1987–1991: missionary in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; 1991–1994: formator at the propaedeutic and philosophy seminary of the Divine Word Province in Viana, Angola, and professor at the Major Seminary in Luanda; 1994–1998: student at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he completed his studies and obtained a Doctorate in Philosophy; 1998–2000: appointed member of the General Council of the Society of the Divine Word; 2000–2006: elected General Councilor for the first time; 2006–2012: re-elected General Councilor of the Society of the Divine Word.
