Archbishop of Curitiba
José Antônio Peruzzo was born on April 19, 1960, in Cascavel (Brazil). He completed his primary and secondary education at the Marist College and the São José Minor Seminary in Curitiba, respectively. He pursued philosophical studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná in Curitiba (1979–1981) and theological studies at the *Studium Theologicum* (1982–1985). He obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (1988–1992) and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome (2002–2004). He was ordained a priest on December 22, 1985, for the Archdiocese of Cascavel. As a priest, he held the following positions: Diocesan Coordinator of Catechesis; Professor at the Diocesan Center for Theology; Director of the Catechetical School; Rector of the *Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe* Theology Seminary in Cascavel; and Parish Priest of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Cascavel. On August 24, 2005, he was appointed Bishop of Palmas-Francisco Beltrão. He received episcopal ordination on November 23 of that same year.
