Returning to Tucumán in 1987, he began teaching at the major seminary, work he continued thereafter. From 1989 to 1995 he was parish priest successively of the churches of San Pío X and of Nuestra Señora de Fátima. In 1995 he became rector of the Nuestra Señora de las Nieves y San José Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Tucumán. On October 7, 2000, he was granted the title of prelate of honour of His Holiness.
