Archbishop of Los Altos
Víctor Hugo Palma Paúl was born on April 10, 1958, in Guatemala City. After entering the National Major Seminary of Guatemala, he completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Salesian Theological Institute. Ordained a priest on December 23, 1983, he obtained a Licentiate in Theology and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He held the following positions: formator and professor of Sacred Scripture at the National Major Seminary of Guatemala, and Director of Studies at the same seminary. On July 14, 2001, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Escuintla and was ordained a bishop on September 1 of that year. He became the residential Bishop on April 3, 2004.
