Bishop of Orizaba
Francisco Eduardo Cervantes Merino is Bishop of Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico. He was born on 13 October 1953 in Ocatán Merino Palafox, in the Federal District of Mexico City, and was ordained a priest on 24 March 1979, being incardinated in the Diocese of Tuxpan. He completed ecclesiastical studies at the Seminary of Jalapa and obtained a licentiate in pastoral theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He also obtained a licentiate in educational psychology at the Escuela Normal Superior del México. He held the following roles: parish vicar, parish priest of Corpus Christi Parish, professor at the diocesan seminary, diocesan coordinator of youth ministry, and member of the presbyteral council. At the time of the source biography, he was parish priest of the cathedral and vicar for pastoral ministry.
