Vicar Apostolic of Jimma-Bonga
Fr. Markos Ghebremedhin, C.M., was born on November 18, 1966, in Shappa, in the Apostolic Prefecture of Jimma-Bonga. He completed his primary education in Shappa and Bonga. On January 1, 1988, he entered the Congregation of the Mission (Lazarist Fathers) and made his perpetual vows on September 26, 1992. He studied philosophy and theology at the Capuchin Theological Faculty in Addis Ababa and was ordained a priest on September 19, 1993. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: (1993–1995) studies in spirituality at Tangaza College in Nairobi (Kenya); (1995–1998) Rector of the Minor Seminary of the Congregation of the Mission (Lazarist Fathers) in Addis Ababa; (1998–2001) Parish Priest of the Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Jimma. Since 2001, he has served as Provincial Superior of the Lazarist Fathers for three consecutive terms. Furthermore, he holds the office of Assistant to the Apostolic Administrator of Jimma-Bonga and is Vice-President of the Conference of Major Superiors of Ethiopia (C.M.R.S.).
