Archbishop François-Xavier Maroy Rusengo, Archbishop of Bukavu, was born on September 1, 1956, in Bukavu, South Kivu, Congo (Dem. Rep.), in the Diocese of Bukavu. He was ordained a priest for Bukavu on August 19, 1984. On November 22, 2004, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Thucca in Mauretania and Auxiliary Bishop of Bukavu. He received episcopal ordination on January 16, 2005, with Giovanni d'Aniello as principal consecrator and Frédéric Etsou-Nzabi-Bamungwabi and Charles Kambale Mbogha as co-consecrators. On April 26, 2006, he was appointed Archbishop of Bukavu. He was installed as Archbishop of Bukavu on June 18, 2006.
