Bishop of Nossa Senhora do Líbano em São Paulo (Maronite)
Edgar Madi was born on March 23, 1956, in Beit-Mery, Lebanon, within the Maronite Archeparchy of Beirut. After completing his secondary education at the "La Sagesse" College in Beirut, he studied theology at the "Saint Esprit" University of Kaslik, where he obtained a licentiate degree in 1981. He was ordained a priest for the Maronite Archeparchy of Beirut on August 14, 1983. Sent by his Archbishop to Boston (USA), he specialized in educational sciences and earned a Master’s degree in Education in 1991. In 2000, he obtained a doctorate in the Philosophy of Education from the University of Kaslik. He has held various pastoral roles. Following his ordination, he served as personal secretary to his Archbishop and subsequently as parochial vicar at Saint Michael’s Parish in Beirut. During his studies in Boston, he provided pastoral service in a Latin-rite parish. Upon returning to Beirut in 1991, he was appointed pastor of Saint Thérèse Parish in Mansourieh while simultaneously serving as Prefect of Studies and later as Principal of the "La Sagesse" School. In addition to Arabic, he speaks Portuguese, French, and English.
