Bishop of Alagoinhas
Bishop Francisco de Oliveira Vidal was born on 28 April 1964 in Rio Pomba, in the diocese of Governador Valadares, in Minas Gerais. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Seminário Nordeste of Minas Gerais in Teófilo Otoni-MG and in theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte-MG (1984—1987), and was subsequently awarded a licentiate in moral theology from the Alphonsianum Academy in Rome (2001-2002). He received priestly ordination on 1 May 1988, and was incardinated in the diocese of Governador Valadares-MG, where he held the following offices: parish priest of Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Governador Valadares; parish vicar in Ilha; parish priest in Vila Isa; diocesan coordinator for family pastoral care; rector of the seminary of philosophy; coordinator of the Diaconal School; member of the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors and the Administration Board; professor at the diocesan seminary; parish priest of the Cathedral; and diocesan pastoral coordinator. Since February 2020 he has served as rector of the diocesan seminary Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora and director of the Dom Herminio Malzone Hugo Theological Institute.
