Bishop Thulani Victor Mbuyisa

Msgr. Thulani Victor Mbuyisa, C.M.M., was born on 13 February 1973 in Exobho, in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, archdiocese of Durban. He entered the Congregation of Missionaries of Mariannhill in 1992, and gave his religious vows on 2 February 1997. He carried out his studies in philosophy (1994-1996) and theology (1996-1999) at Saint Joseph’s Theological Institute in Cedara, South Africa. He was ordained a priest on 4 March 2000, and subsequently held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint Michael’s Mission, chaplain of Mangosuthu University of Technology and Saint Francis College in Mariannhill, and deputy director of novices (2001-2002). He was awarded a licentiate in canon law from Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Canada (2002-2004). He went on to serve as chaplain of Mangosuthu University of Technology and deputy director of novices (2005-2007), superior and formator at the Nivard House of formation in Nairobi, Kenya (2010), counsellor and secretary general (2010-2012), vicar general and procurator of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Mariannhill (2012-2016). From October 2016 to date, he has served as superior general of the same Congregation.
