Bishop of Qiqihar
Bishop Joseph Wei Jingyi, Bishop of Qiqihar, was born on May 28, 1958, in Heilongjiang, in China. He was ordained a priest on November 21, 1985. He was twice detained and sent to labour camps, from 1987 to 1989 and again from 1990 to 1992. He was ordained a bishop on June 22, 1995, as Coadjutor Bishop of Qiqihar, with Paul Guo Wenzhi as principal consecrator, and he succeeded as Bishop of Qiqihar on August 1, 2000. He was arrested again on March 5, 2004, without any grounds for the arrest being stated.
