Bishop of Tabasco
Gerardo de Jesús Rojas López was born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, on April 13, 1957. He pursued his ecclesiastical studies at the Diocesan Seminary of Aguascalientes. He was ordained a priest on September 16, 1983, and incardinated into the Diocese of Ciudad Juárez. He subsequently obtained a licentiate in Canon Law. He served as parish priest at the parishes of Santa Cecilia, San Miguel Arcángel, and El Señor de la Misericordia in Ciudad Juárez. He also served as Defender of the Bond, formator, and professor at the diocesan seminary. From 1994 to 2001, he was Vicar General of Ciudad Juárez. On May 22, 2004, the Holy Father John Paul II appointed him the second Bishop of Nuevo Casas Grandes, and he received episcopal ordination on August 4 of that same year.
