Archbishop of Cape Coast
Archbishop Gabriel Charles Palmer-Buckle, Archbishop of Cape Coast, was born on June 15, 1950, in Axim, Nzema East Municipal District, Ghana, in the Diocese of Accra. He studied at Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary. He was ordained a priest for Accra on December 12, 1976. On July 6, 1992, he was appointed Bishop of Koforidua. He received episcopal ordination on January 6, 1993, at Roma, with John Paul II as principal consecrator and Giovanni Battista Re and Justin Francis Rigali as co-consecrators. On March 30, 2005, he was appointed Archbishop of Accra. On May 11, 2018, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Accra and Archbishop of Cape Coast. He was installed as Archbishop of Cape Coast on July 5, 2018. He ceased to hold the office of Archbishop of Accra on March 1, 2019. He ceased to hold the office of Apostolic Administrator of Accra on March 1, 2019.
