Archbishop of Cochabamba
Oscar Omar Aparicio Céspedes is Archbishop of Cochabamba, Bolivia. Oscar Omar Aparicio Céspedes was born on 26 September 1959 in La Paz, Bolivia. In 1982 he began his formation and studies in philosophy and theology at San Jerónimo Major Seminary in La Paz, and on 29 November 1987 he received priestly ordination. In the years 1988-1989 in La Paz he was parish priest at Huarina and formator in San Jerónimo Major Seminary. From 1990 to 1992 he was formator at the national major seminary of San José in Cochabamba. He then pursued theological studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (1992-1994) and obtained a licentiate in Dogmatic Theology. On his return from Rome he was appointed parish priest of San Antonio Parish in La Paz (1994-1995); afterward he was formator at San Jerónimo Major Seminary, spiritual director (1996-1997), and rector of the same seminary (1998-2002). On 29 May 2002 he was elected titular bishop of Citium and auxiliary bishop of La Paz. He received episcopal ordination on the following 25 July. On 4 April 2012 he was transferred to the office of military ordinary for Bolivia. Within the Bolivian Episcopal Conference he was secretary general. At the time of the source biography, he was its president.
