Bishop of Djibouti
Bishop Jamal Boulos Sleiman Daibes was born on 3 July 1964 in Zababdeh, Palestine. He attended the seminary of Beit Jala, obtained his bachelor’s degree and was ordained a priest on 8 July 1988. After ordination, he served as vicar of the parish of Christ the King in Amman; professor in the Beit Jala and parish priest of the parish of Saint Elijah at Al-Wahadneh, Jordan. He was awarded a doctorate in dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome (1988) and went on to serve as professor and then rector of the diocesan seminary (2013-2017); head of the Department of Religious Studies at Bethlehem University and dean of the Faculty of Arts; parish priest of the Holy Family parish in Ramallah; director of the Schools of the Latin Patriarchate in Palestine and Patriarchal vicar in Jordan (2021-2022). On 11 March 2022 he was appointed titular bishop of Patara and auxiliary of the Patriarchal diocese of Jerusalem of the Latins, receiving episcopal consecration the following 6 May.
