Fridolin Ambongo Besungu is a Member of the Council of Cardinals. Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, O.F.M. Cap., was born in Boto, in the Diocese of Molegbe, on 24 January 1960. He studied in his homeland and in Rome. He graduated in moral theology at the Alphonsianum. He was ordained a priest in 1988. He has been parish priest, professor at the Facultés Catholiques of Kinshasa, major superior, vice-provincial of the Capuchins of the vice-province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, national president of ASUMA, president of CONCAU, the Circumscription of the Friars Minor Capuchin in Africa, and president of the Capuchin committee "Cri du Pauvre" in Rome.
