Archbishop of Monterrey
Archbishop Rogelio Cabrera López, Archbishop of Monterrey, was born on 24 January 1951 in Santa Catalina, State of Guanajuato and Diocese of Querétaro. He completed humanities studies, philosophy, and part of theology at the Seminary of Querétaro. He completed his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical Biblical Institute, obtaining a licentiate in theology and in Sacred Scripture. He was ordained priest on 17 November 1978. Elected Bishop of Tacámbaro on 30 April 1996, he received episcopal ordination on the following 30 May. On 16 July 2001 he was transferred to the Diocese of Tapachula. On 11 September 2004 he was appointed to the episcopal see of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. On 25 November 2006, following the creation of the Ecclesiastical Province of Chiapas, with the elevation of Tuxtla Gutiérrez to a metropolitan see, he became its first Archbishop. In 2009 he was elected Vice-President of the Mexican Episcopal Conference.
