Bishop Amilton Manoel da Silva

Amilton Manoel da Silva, C.P., was born on March 2, 1963, in Osvaldo Cruz, in the Diocese of Marília, State of São Paulo. He pursued his studies in philosophy at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba (1992–1995) and in theology at the Institute of Theology of São Paulo (ITESP) (1997–2000). He made his religious profession on January 18, 1997, as a member of the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (Passionists) and was ordained a priest on December 17, 2000. Within his Congregation, he held the following roles: formator of postulants; novice master; coordinator of the spirituality team for the Province of Calvary and the Passionist family in Brazil; coordinator of the formation team for various countries in the Americas; member of the General Council’s formation team; provincial councilor; and Provincial Superior of the Passionist Province of Calvary, based in São Paulo. Additionally, he served as an advisor to the Conference of Religious of Brazil (Paraná Regional), as a parochial vicar in Colombo (Paraná) and Ponta Grossa (Paraná), and as parish priest of São Paulo da Cruz in the Archdiocese of São Paulo. On June 7, 2017, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Tusuro and Auxiliary Bishop of Curitiba, receiving episcopal ordination on August 19 of that year. Within the Brazilian Bishops' Conference, he is a member of the Episcopal Commission for Youth and Secretary of the "Sul 2" Regional, which encompasses the ecclesiastical jurisdictions of the State of Paraná.
