Archbishop of Warmia
Józef Górzyński was born on March 5, 1959, in Żelechów (Archdiocese of Warsaw). After completing his secondary education, he was admitted to the Major Seminary of Warsaw in 1979 and was ordained a priest for the same archdiocese on June 2, 1985. Following his ordination, he served as a parochial vicar in Grójec (1985–1987). From 1987 to 1992, he studied at the Pontifical Atheneum of St. Anselm, where he obtained a licentiate in liturgy. After his studies, he served for two years as Prefect of Discipline at the Major Seminary of Warsaw and has been a lecturer in liturgy at the same seminary since 1993. In 1997, he earned his doctorate from the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw (now Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University). Since 1999, he has served as President of the Theological Commission of the National College of Coordinators for the Renewal in the Spirit. From 2002 to 2007, he was Vice-President of the Liturgical Commission of the Archdiocese of Warsaw. From 2004 to 2012, he served as pastor of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish in Warsaw. He currently serves as Moderator of the Curia, a member of the Pastoral Council, the Presbyteral Council, and the College of Consultors, and as President of the Liturgical Commission of the Archdiocese of Warsaw. On December 24, 2012, he was named a Chaplain of His Holiness.
