Bishop of Abeokuta
Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo was born on January 28, 1964, in Ibadan, within the Archdiocese of Ibadan. After attending local schools, he entered the Ss. Peter and Paul Major Seminary in Bodija, Ibadan, where he pursued his studies in philosophy and theology. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Ibadan on October 7, 1989. Following his ordination, he held the following positions and undertook further studies: 1989–1992: Parochial Vicar; 1990–1996: Deputy Director of the Renew Process program for the Archdiocese of Ibadan; 1992–1996: Teacher at the Minor Seminary and priest in charge of St. Patrick’s and St. Ignatius of Loyola parishes; 1996–2000: Studies for the Licentiate and Doctorate in Church History at the Pontifical Gregorian University; from 2001: Resident priest at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Ibadan; from 2001: Parish Priest of the Church of the Assumption in Bodija; from 2001: Lecturer in Church History at the Ss. Peter and Paul Seminary; from 2003: Lecturer in Church History at the Dominican Institute; 2002–2007: President of the Ibadan Diocesan Priests’ Association; 2002–2008: Secretary of the Diocesan Priests of All Yorubaland. Since 2009, he has served as Vicar General of the Archdiocese.
