Bishop of Abomey
Eugène Cyrille Houndékon was born on January 28, 1960, in Cotonou. He completed his primary and secondary education in Cotonou. He attended the minor seminaries in Ouidah and Parakou before entering the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Ouidah. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Cotonou on July 5, 1986. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1986–1988: Parochial Vicar of Sainte Anne d’Arc d’Allada; 1988–1994: Studies in Rome, earning a degree in *Utroque Iure* (Canon and Civil Law) from the Pontifical Lateran University; from 1995: Professor of Canon Law at the Major Seminary of Ouidah; 1996–1999: Assistant Secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Benin. Since 1999, he has served as Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference of Benin.
