Bishop of Albano
The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Vincenzo Viva—a priest of the Diocese of Nardò-Gallipoli and until now Rector of the Pontifical Urban College "de Propaganda Fide" in Rome—as Bishop of the Suburbicarian Diocese of Albano. H.E. Msgr. Vincenzo Viva, Bishop of Albano: Born in Frankfurt (Germany) on August 24, 1970, he completed his initial secondary education in Frankfurt before obtaining his high school diploma (linguistic track) in Lecce. As a student at the Almo Collegio Capranica, he pursued philosophy and theology studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in preparation for his priestly ordination, which took place on July 10, 1997, for the Diocese of Nardò-Gallipoli. In 2006, he obtained a Doctorate in Moral Theology from the Alphonsian Academy. He undertook advanced studies in Bioethics at the University Centre for Bioethics and Life Sciences of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome. Significant pastoral roles held: 1999–2000: Vice-Rector of the Diocesan Seminary; 2000–2003: Spiritual Director of the Diocesan Seminary; 2001–2011: Member of the College of Consultors; 2000–2013: Director of the Office for Social Communications; 2005–2007: Religion Teacher at the Classical High School in Nardò; 2005–2013: Episcopal Delegate for the *Ordo Virginum*; 2005–2008: Secretary General for the Pastoral Visitation; 2005–2009: Pastoral collaborator at the parish of St. Francis of Paola in Nardò; 2006–2013: Associate Professor of Moral Theology at the Theological Faculty of Puglia; 2009–2013: Penitentiary Canon of the Nardò Cathedral Chapter. Since 2007: Professor of Moral Theology at the Alphonsian Academy. Since 2013: Rector of the Pontifical Urban College “de Propaganda Fide” and Professor of Moral Theology at the Pontifical Urban University. He was appointed Chaplain to His Holiness in 2012. He is the author of various publications, articles, and translations from German. He is proficient in German, English, and French.
