Bishop José Luís Mumbiela Sierra

Bishop José Luis Mumbiela Sierra was born in Monzón (Huesca), in the Diocese of Lleida (Spain), on May 27, 1969. He studied at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Navarra (1987–1992), where he obtained a Licentiate in Theology in 1994. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Lleida on June 25, 1995, and was appointed parochial vicar in Fraga (1995–1998). On June 30, 1997, he earned his doctorate in theology from the University of Navarra, and on February 28 of the following year, he arrived in the Diocese of the Most Holy Trinity in Almaty as a *fidei donum* priest, serving as a vicar in the parish of Shymkent. He subsequently became the Prefect of Studies and Vice-Rector of the Inter-diocesan Major Seminary in Karaganda, and on June 16, 2007, he became its Rector. On March 5, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of the Most Holy Trinity in Almaty.
