Bishop of Ambato
Born on July 3, 1965, in Baños, Tungurahua Province. He began his novitiate with the Dominican Fathers in 1987. He pursued studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador (PUCE). He made his first religious profession on September 14, 1988, and his solemn profession as a Dominican religious on August 30, 1991. He was ordained a priest on December 16, 1995, in Quito. Between 2007 and 2011, he undertook postgraduate studies in Rome, obtaining a Licentiate (Master's degree) in Dogmatic Theology from the University of Saint Thomas. – 1997–2000: Professor of Pastoral Theology and Philosophy at the School of Religious Sciences, PUCE. – 1999–2000: Vocations Promoter for the Dominican Province in Ecuador. – 2000–2001: Parish Priest of "Santo Domingo" and Vicar of the Dominican Community, Ambato. – 2000–2001: Professor of Pastoral Theology at the Major Seminary of Ambato. – 2001–2002: Professor of Christian Formation at the "San Luis Beltrán" Educational Unit, Cuenca. – 2001–2002: President of the Ecuadorian Conference of Religious (Cuenca zone). – 2002–2007: Parish Priest of "Santo Domingo," Guayaquil. – 2004–2007: Professor of Pastoral Theology at the Major Seminary of Guayaquil. – 2004–2007: Chaplain for the "Santo Domingo de Guzmán," "Nuevo Mundo," and "Abdón Calderón" schools, Guayaquil. – 2004–2005: Professor of Christian Formation at the Law School of the Catholic University of Guayaquil. – 2004–2007: Superior of the Dominican Community of Guayaquil. – 2007–2011: Postgraduate studies in Rome. – 2010–2011: Secretary General of the Interprovincial Conference of Dominican Friars of Latin America and the Caribbean (CIDALC). – Since 2011: Provincial Superior of the Dominican Province of "Saint Catherine of Siena" in Ecuador.
