Bishop of Ambanja
Msgr. Donatien Francis Randriamalala, M.S., was born on 6 January 1971 in Antsirabé. He studied law at the University of Antananarivo. In 1992 he was admitted to the Studentate of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette (Salettians). From 1993 to 1995 he completed his postulancy and novitiate and then attended the Saint Paul Apôtre Major Seminary in Antsirabé. He made his perpetual vows on 19 September 2000 and entered the Saint Thérèse de l'Enfant-Jésus Major Seminary in Antananarivo the same year. He was ordained a priest on 19 August 2003 in Antsirabé. In 2010, he obtained a licentiate in theology, with a specialization in youth ministry, from the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome. He has held the following positions: head of the missionary district of Avaradrano, in the diocese of Morondava (2003 - 2006); since 2010, parish priest of Notre Dame de la Salette in Morondava and vicar general of the same diocese; and since 2013, director of diocesan radio.
