Bishop of Ambositra
Fidelis Rakotonarivo, S.J., was born on August 28, 1956, in Ambohimahazo (Ambositra). He entered the Kianjasoa Minor Seminary in Fianarantsoa before moving to the Society’s novitiate in Antananarivo. He studied philosophy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, theology in Nairobi, and spirituality in Canada. He was ordained a priest on August 15, 1992. Following his ordination, he held various positions: spiritual director at the Collège St. François Xavier in Fianarantsoa (1992–1995); spiritual director and bursar at the Vohitsoa Inter-diocesan Major Seminary in Fianarantsoa (1995–1998); and community superior in Fianarantsoa (1998–2001). Since 2001, he has served as superior of the Ambositra community and as a provincial consultor.
