Bishop of Antsirabé
Jean Pascal Andriantsoavina is Bishop of Antsirabé, Madagascar. Jean Pascal Andriantsoavina was born in Mitsinjo, in the Diocese of Mahajanga, on 24 March 1969. In 1991 he began attending the Propaedeutic Seminary; in 1992 he entered the Philosophical Major Seminary of Antsirabé for philosophical studies; in 1997 he moved to the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Antananarivo to finish theological studies. He was ordained a priest on 5 August 2000. After ordination he held the following roles: vicar of the Cathedral of Antananarivo and chaplain of the Eucharistic Youth Movement from 2000 to 2001; chaplain of the Youth of the Archdiocese from 2001 to 2003; studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, completed with a licentiate in Sacred Scripture while residing at the Pontifical College of Saint Peter from 2003 to 2007; prefect of studies at the Interdiocesan Philosophical Major Seminary of Antsirabé from 2007 to 2011; rector of the Interdiocesan Philosophical Major Seminary of Antsirabé from 2011 to 2019. From March 2019 he was collaborating in a parish and was engaged in translating the Jerusalem Bible into the Malagasy language.
