Johan Jozef Bonny is Bishop of Antwerpen [Antwerp], Belgium. Johan Bonny was born in Oostende on 10 July 1955. On 20 July 1980 he was ordained a priest in Moere. In 1982 he was appointed professor and archivist at the major seminary of Bruges. In 1997 he became a staff member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and rector of the Belgian Pontifical College in Rome. On 28 October 2008, Monsignor Johan Bonny was appointed the twenty-second Bishop of Antwerp. His episcopal ordination took place on 4 January 2009 in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerp. Monsignor Bonny is reference bishop for education and school catechesis, for university and college pastoral care, for KU Leuven, for pastoral care among inland navigation and Apostolatus Maris, and for contacts with the Flemish government.
