Bishop of Arua
Bishop Sabino Ocan Odoki, Bishop of Arua, was born on August 8, 1957, in Layibi, on the outskirts of Gulu, in the Archdiocese of Gulu. He studied in his own country and was ordained a priest for Gulu on September 10, 1983. After ordination he undertook pastoral work at Kitgum (1983-1985), then attended the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, where he obtained a doctorate in theology (1985-1992). From 1992 to 1997 he founded the St. Maurice pastoral centre at Gulu with the financial support of German friends, a project which has since become a quasi-parish with a primary school. From 1997 he served as lecturer and rector of the major seminary of Alokolum. On July 22, 2006, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Sabrata and Auxiliary Bishop of Gulu. He received episcopal ordination on October 21, 2006, with John Baptist Odama as principal consecrator and Emmanuel Wamala and Christophe Louis Yves Georges Pierre as co-consecrators. On October 20, 2010, he was appointed Bishop of Arua.
