Bishop of Bacolod
Bishop Patricio Abella Buzon, S.D.B., was born on 14 March 1950 in San Nicolas, Cebu City. After elementary and secondary studies, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education from Don Bosco College and then studied philosophy and theology at the Don Bosco Center of Studies in Parañaque. He made his first profession on 29 June 1967 and was ordained a priest on 8 December 1976. He then held the following offices: catechist at Don Bosco Mission Seminary, Lawa-an, Cebu, from 1977 to 1982; rector of Don Bosco Mission Seminary, Lawa-an, Cebu, from 1982 to 1989; rector of Don Bosco Boys' Town, Cebu City, from 1989 to 1992; vice-provincial of the Southern Salesian Province from 1992 to 1998; rector of Don Bosco Mission Seminary, Lawa-an, Cebu, from 1992 to 1995; rector of the provincial house from 1995 to 1997; rector of Don Bosco Boys' Town, Cebu City, from 1997 to 1998; and provincial of the Southern Salesian Province from 1998.
