Bishop of Barcelona
Jorge Aníbal Quintero Chacón was born in Queniquea, in the Diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela, on July 24, 1956. He completed his priestly studies at the Santo Tomás de Aquino Seminary in that diocese. He obtained a Licentiate in Education, specializing in Theology and Philosophy, from the Santo Tomás de Aquino University Institute in San Cristóbal. He was ordained a priest on June 27, 1981, for the clergy of the Diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela. As a priest, he held the following pastoral roles: Director of Discipline at the Minor Seminary, Vice-Rector and subsequently Rector of the Minor Seminary, Military Chaplain, Parish Priest of San Juan Nepomuceno in Michelena, Parish Priest of San Juan Bautista de la Ermita in San Cristóbal, Episcopal Vicar for the Armed Forces in the diocese, Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Care, and Vicar General of the Diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela. On December 19, 2008, he was appointed Bishop of Margarita. He received episcopal consecration on March 7, 2009. He entered the Santo Tomás de Aquino Seminary in October 1973.
