Archbishop of Besançon
Jean-Luc Marie Maurice Louis Bouilleret is Archbishop of Besançon, France. The official French profile names Jean-Luc Bouilleret as Archbishop of Besançon since 2013. He was born on 28 October 1953, ordained a priest on 28 June 1981, appointed bishop on 10 March 2003, and consecrated bishop on 11 May 2003. He is metropolitan archbishop of the Province of Besançon and a member of the Council for Catholic Education. He is the son of Pierre Bouilleret and Mrs. Bouilleret, née Georgette Overnoy, winegrowers. His formation included the major seminary of Dijon, the Gregorian University in Rome, the Institut Catholique de Paris, and The Catholic University of America in Washington. His ministries included vicar at the cathedral of Saint-Claude from 1982 to 1985; professor of moral theology at the major seminary of Dijon from 1983 to 1993; member of the presbyteral team of Salins-les-Bains from 1987 to 1990; parish priest in North Jura and episcopal vicar from 1990 to 1996; director at the university seminary in Lyon and teacher of moral theology at the Catholic University of Lyon and Saint-Irénée Seminary from 1996 to 2003; Bishop of Amiens from 2003 to 2013; and member of the Doctrinal Commission from 2017 to 2023.
