Bishop Vjekoslav Huzjak

Vjekoslav Huzjak was born on February 25, 1960, in Jalžabet—then part of the Archdiocese of Zagreb, now the Diocese of Varaždin. He attended secondary school at the Minor Seminary in Zagreb and completed his philosophical and theological studies at the archdiocese's Major Seminary. From 1993 to 1999, he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he obtained a Licentiate in Fundamental Theology, and at the Pontifical Oriental Institute, where he earned his doctorate. Ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Zagreb in 1986, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Varaždin when it was established in 1997. Following his ordination, he held the following positions and offices: Parish Vicar at the National Shrine of Marija Bistrica (1986–1991); Parish Priest of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Zagreb (1991–1993); Secretary General of the Croatian Conference of Bishops (1999–present); and lecturer at the Faculty of Theology in Zagreb (2000–present).
