Bishop of Bragança Paulista
Sérgio Aparecido Colombo was born in Cajobí (Diocese of Barretos), in the State of São Paulo, on August 29, 1954. He pursued studies in philosophy in São Paulo (1974–1976) and in theology at the "Nossa Senhora da Assunção" Theological Faculty in the same city (1977–1980). He was ordained a priest on August 6, 1980, and incardinated into the clergy of the Diocese of Limeira. Subsequently, he served as pastor of the "Bom Jesus" parish (1980–1982) in the city of Leme, pastor of the "São Manoel" parish (1982–1988) in the same city, and, from 1988 onwards, pastor of the "Jesus Crucificado" parish in the city of Iracemápolis. From 1994 to 1996, he served as spiritual director for the seminarians at the "São João Maria Vianney" Seminary. He also held the offices of Episcopal Vicar of Limeira (1983–1996), Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator (1986–1990), and Vicar General of Limeira. On October 10, 2001, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Pudenziana and Auxiliary Bishop of São Carlos, receiving episcopal ordination on the following January 6.
