Archbishop of Bratislava
H.E. Msgr. Stanislav Zvolenský, Archbishop-Metropolitan of Bratislava, was born in Trnava on November 19, 1958. He was ordained a priest in Bratislava on June 13, 1982. From 1982, he served as a chaplain in Galanta, and from 1985 in Hlohovec. In 1990, he became a parish priest in Bratislava-Vajnory, followed by periods of study in Innsbruck (1990) and Rome (1991). In 1998, he was appointed Vice-Official of the ecclesiastical court in Trnava and served as an assistant at the Faculty of Roman Catholic Theology of Comenius University (CMBF UK) in Bratislava, becoming a lecturer (assistant professor) in 1999 and Vice-Dean in 2001. Also in 2001, he was appointed Judicial Vicar in Trnava. On April 2, 2004, he was named a titular bishop and was consecrated as a bishop in Trnava on May 2, 2004. On February 14, 2008, he was appointed Archbishop and Metropolitan of Bratislava. From October 28, 2009, to October 11, 2022, he served as President of the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia.
