Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham
Msgr. Timothy Francis Menezes was born on 18 July 1970 in Birmingham. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the Oscott Seminary, Saint Mary’s College and at the Venerable English College of Rome, and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 22 July 1995. After obtaining a licentiate in liturgy from the Pontifical Saint Anselm Liturgical Institute in Rome (1996), he served as parish vicar of Saint Michael’s Penn (1996-1998), associate lecturer at the Maryvale Institute, Birmingham (1996-2004), parish vicar at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Redditch (1998-2000), lecturer in liturgy at Saint Mary’s College (1998-2011), special secretary to the Archbishop of Birmingham (2000-2004), member of the Liturgical Commission of the Episcopal Conference (since 2020), expert advisor for the English International Liturgical Commission (2002-2004), parish priest of Saint Thomas More, Coventry (2004-2011), Canon of the Chapter (2011) and dean of Saint Chad Metropolitan Cathedral (since 2019), and vicar general (2011-2019).
