Bishop Pierantonio Tremolada

The Pope has appointed H.E. Msgr. Pierantonio Tremolada—formerly Titular Bishop of Massita and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Milan—as Bishop of the Diocese of Brescia. Msgr. Pierantonio Tremolada was born in Lissone on October 4, 1956. He studied at the seminaries in Milan until his ordination to the priesthood on June 13, 1981. Following his ordination, he was sent to Rome to the *Collegio Lombardo* to attend the Pontifical Biblical Institute, where he earned a degree in Sacred Scripture; his thesis, supervised by Fr. A. Vanhoye, was titled "And He Was Counted Among the Wicked: Perspectives on Reading the Passion According to Luke 22:37" and was published in *Analecta Biblica*. He served as a lecturer for the four-year theology program in Venegono and as Rector responsible for the formation of permanent deacons; from 2000 to 2014, he was a member of the Presbyteral Council, and from 2012 to 2014, he served as Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization and the Sacraments. Appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Milan and Titular Bishop of Massita on May 24, 2014, he received episcopal consecration on June 28 of that same year.
