Prelate of Batanes
Bishop Danilo Bangayan Ulep, Prelate of Batanes, was born on June 24, 1962, in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, in the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao. He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in philosophy, theology and canon law and a licentiate in philosophy. He was ordained a priest for Tuguegarao on April 10, 1987. He then served as parochial vicar of the parish of San Vicente Ferrer in Solana, Cagayan (1987-1992) and administrator of the same parish (1992-1993); parish priest of the Holy Guardian Angels parish in Tuao, Cagayan (1993-1999); rector of the San Jacinto minor seminary in Alimannao, Cagayan and director of the Commission for Vocations and Seminaries (1999-2005); and parish priest of the St. Joseph the Worker parish in San José, Baggao, and episcopal vicar of Alcala (2005-2011). From 2011 he served as parish priest and rector of the Santo Niño parish and shrine in San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City, director of the biblical apostolate and president of the priests' assembly of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao. On May 20, 2017, he was appointed Prelate of Batanes. He received episcopal ordination on July 29, 2017, at Tuguegarao, with Sergio Lasam Utleg as principal consecrator and Marlo Mendoza Peralta and Camilo Diaz Gregorio as co-consecrators.
