Bishop of Campeche
Bishop José Alberto González Juárez was born on 19 December 1967 in El Parral, in the archdiocese of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. After studying at the major seminary of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, he was awarded a licentiate in philosophy from the Universidad Pontificia de México. He was ordained a priest on 8 December 1995 for the same archdiocese. He has held the following offices: parish vicar and parish priest, episcopal vicar for the clergy and for consecrated life, superior of the preparatory course, lecturer in philosophy, and rector of the seminary of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. He was appointed bishop of the diocese of Tuxtepec on 6 June 2015, receiving episcopal consecration the following 22 July. He is an alternate member of the Permanent Council of the Mexican Episcopal Conference.
