Archbishop Victor Barnuevo Bendico

Archbishop Victor Barnuevo Bendico, Archbishop of Capiz, Philippines, was born on 22 January 1960 in Roxas City. He completed philosophical and theological studies at the University of Santo Tomas Central Seminary in Manila and obtained a doctorate in sacred liturgy at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 14 April 1984 for the Archdiocese of Capiz. He held the following pastoral offices: spiritual director of San Pius X Seminary, Roxas City, from 1984 to 1988; parochial vicar of Saint Therese in Roxas City from 1992 to 1995; rector at St. Maria Mater et Regina Seminarium Maius, Roxas City; pastor of Saint Isidore in Pontevedra, Capiz, from 2000 to 2006, of Saint Laurence in Panitan and Pontevedra, Capiz, from 2006 to 2011, and, until 2016, pastor of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Roxas City. On 1 October 2016 he was elected Bishop of Baguio, receiving episcopal consecration on 22 February 2017. Within the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines he chairs the Episcopal Commission for Liturgy.
