Bishop of Chanda (Syro-Malabar)
Ephrem Nariculam was born on December 10, 1960, in Sanjopuram, within the Archeparchy of Ernakulam-Angamaly, where he was ordained a priest on December 27, 1986. He pursued his ecclesiastical studies in Poonamallee and Bangalore, earning a doctorate in Spiritual Theology from Saint Peter’s Pontifical Institute. He speaks Hindi and Marathi, in addition to English and Malayalam. He served as a parish priest in Ernakulam and Delhi before ministering in the Eparchy of Chanda, where he served as Rector of the Minor Seminary for seven years. After being sent to Canada, he held the following positions: lecturer at the Toronto School of Theology and—also in Toronto—coordinator of priestly formation at St. Augustine’s Seminary and chaplain to the Syro-Malabar community.
