Bishop of Chiavari
The Holy Father has appointed Father Giampio Luigi Devasini, previously Vicar General of the Diocese of Casale Monferrato, as Bishop of Chiavari. H.E. Msgr. Giampio Luigi Devasini, Bishop of Chiavari. Msgr. Devasini was born on September 4, 1962, in Alessandria, in the province and diocese of the same name. After earning a law degree from the University of Genoa and gaining professional experience, he entered the Theological Seminary of Alessandria and was ordained a priest on June 8, 2002, for the Diocese of Casale Monferrato. In 2010, he obtained a Licentiate in Moral Theology from the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy (Milan Section). He has held the following positions: Vice-Rector of the Episcopal Seminary (2002–2007); Parish Administrator of Alfiano Natta and Cardona (2002–2015); Episcopal Delegate for Consecrated Life (2003–2019); member of the Diocesan Episcopal Council, the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors, and the Diocesan Council for Economic Affairs (from 2005); Vice-Rector of the Madonna di Crea Sanctuary (2007); Parish Administrator of Sanico (2007–2015); Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Care (2009–2012); Moderator of the Santa Gianna Beretta Molla Pastoral Unit (2011–2015); Pro-Vicar General (2011–2015); Vicar General and Parish Priest of Pontestura and Quarti (since 2015); Parish Priest of Solonghello (2015–2017); and Episcopal Delegate for Relations with the Superintendencies (since 2016). He has served as a Canon of the Cathedral since 2014. Since 2019, President and Legal Representative of the Opera Diocesana Assistenza Foundation, the Opera Apostolato Mariano, the Villa Serena Foundation, the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Madonna del Pozzo, and the Opera Diocesana di Assistenza Consortium; and, since 2020, Rector of the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate in Casale Monferrato.
