Bishop George Cosmas Zumaire Lungu

Bishop George Cosmas Zumaire Lungu, Bishop of Chipata, was born on February 4, 1960, in Zumaire, in the Diocese of Chipata. He studied in his own country and in Kenya, at Nairobi, obtaining a licentiate in liturgy. He was ordained a priest for Chipata on August 29, 1985. He served as parish priest, rector of the minor seminary and vicar general of Chipata. On December 23, 2002, he was appointed Bishop of Chipata. He received episcopal ordination on February 23, 2003, with Orlando Antonini as principal consecrator and Medardo Joseph Mazombwe and Telesphore George Mpundu as co-consecrators.
