Bishop of Coatzacoalcos
Bishop Rutilo Muñoz Zamora, Bishop of Coatzacoalcos, was born on June 4, 1951, in Tulictic, in the Diocese of Tlaxcala. He completed his philosophical studies in the Diocese of Tlaxcala and his theological studies in the Diocese of Jalapa. He was ordained a priest for Veracruz on March 19, 1977, in Veracruz. He obtained a licentiate in moral theology from the Alphonsian Academy and a licentiate in spirituality from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He served as professor of the major seminary, parish priest, coordinator of the ongoing formation of the clergy, dean on several occasions, and a member of the presbyteral council. From 1989 he was a member of the college of consultors and from 1996 parish priest of San Miguel Arcángel, and he was latterly appointed vicar for pastoral care of Veracruz. On September 24, 2002, he was appointed Bishop of Coatzacoalcos. He received episcopal ordination on November 20, 2002, at Minatitlán.
