Bishop of Cape Palmas
Andrew Jagaye Karnley was born on April 29, 1967, in Jawejeh, in the Archdiocese of Monrovia. After attending primary school at his parish's Catholic school, he completed his secondary education at Our Lady of Fatima High School in Cape Palmas and entered the diocesan Pope John XXIII Minor Seminary (1982–1986). He subsequently pursued studies in philosophy at the Major Seminary in Gbarnga and in theology at the Major Seminary in Cape Coast, Ghana. He was ordained a priest on July 9, 1995. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1995–1996: Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish; 1996–1998: Vice-Rector and later Rector of the Queen of Apostles Minor Seminary in Monrovia; 1998–2000: Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Monrovia; 2000–2005: Rector of St. Charles Lwanga Pre-Major Seminary; 2005–2009: Apostolic Administrator (*sede vacante*) of the Archdiocese of Monrovia. Since 2009, he has been in Rome, where he is studying Church History at the Pontifical Gregorian University. In 2011, he was appointed Bishop of Cape Palmas by Pope Francis.
