Bishop of Denpasar
Silvester San was born on August 14, 1961, in Maupongo, in the Archdiocese of Ende (Flores), into a Catholic family of Chinese descent. He entered the Minor Seminary of Mataloko and subsequently the "Saint Peter" Major Seminary in Ritapiret for philosophical and theological studies. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Ende on June 29, 1988. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1988–1991: teacher at the Minor Seminary of Mataloko; 1991–1995: graduate studies in Biblical Theology at the Urbaniana University in Rome, while residing at the Pontifical College of Saint Peter; 1995–2005: formator at the Major Seminary of Ritapiret. Since 2005, he has served as Rector and Professor at the Major Seminary of Ritapiret.
